Parliamentary Committee applauds the College HEET project buildings; construction reaches 83%

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sports conducted a site visit at DUCE to inspect the construction project funded by the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project. The Committee, comprising 21 Members of Parliament, was led by its Chairperson, Hon. Husna Sekiboko.

DUCE HEET Project shows remarkable progress, reaches 75% completion

The National HEET Project Coordinator, Dr. Kennedy Hosea, visited DUCE on 10th February 2026. The site visit aimed to review the construction progress of the two buildings designated for Postgraduate Studies and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

DUCE honours outstanding performance in Chang’ombe Demonstration Primary School

Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence by recognising high-achieving pupils and teachers from its Chang’ombe Demonstration Primary School. 

On 30th January 2026, the College celebrated exceptional performance in the 2025 national examinations and standard four national assessment, commending dedication and hard work across the primary school levels. The event was graced by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Mabula Nkuba. 

HEET project brings major transformation to DUCE

The Principal of Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Prof. Stephen Maluka, has commended the Sixth Phase Government led by Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for its efforts of improving the college’s infrastructure. 

He stated that through the HEET Project, the government is constructing two large buildings: the Postgraduate Studies Building and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Building.

DUCE Management team participates in a strategic leadership workshop

 

The DUCE Management Team joined leaders from other University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) campuses for an induction workshop held at the Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha from 2nd to 4th June 2025. The workshop was guided by the theme: Driving UDSM Excellence Through Strategic and Innovative Leadership.

Chang’ombe Demonstration Secondary School Holds a Career Expo and Mentorship Event at DUCE

On 24th May 2025, Chang’ombe Demonstration Secondary School held a Career Expo and Mentorship Event at the DUCE premises. The event brought together secondary school students, teachers, parents, and professionals from various fields.

Researchers hold a workshop to enhance teacher capacity in Science, Mathematics and Life skills

From 3rd to 5th March 2025, a team of researchers from DUCE (Tanzania), Kibabii University (Kenya), and Juba University (South Sudan) conducted a workshop aimed at enhancing teacher capacity in Science, Mathematics, and Life Skills. The researchers of the project titled Strengthening Teacher Professional Development and Mentorship (STPDM) held their workshop at the APC Hotel and Conference Centre, located in Bunju, Dar es Salaam.

The College holds ARIS 3 training for Heads of Departments and Examination Officers

On Friday, 14th March 2025, the College organized a seminar for Heads of Departments and Examination Officers to orient them on uploading examinations and supporting postgraduate students in their academic journey.

The seminar was officiated by the Director of Research and Innovation, Prof. Amani Lusekelo, on behalf of the Deputy Principal (Academic, Research, and Consultancy), Dr. Christina Raphael Isingo.

UDSM Vice Chancellor urges contractors to increase workforce and adhere to contract schedules

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Prof. William Anangisye, who is also the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), visited the College on 14th January 2025 to inspect the ongoing HEET construction projects.

Dr. Jakaya Kikwete confers degrees to DUCE graduates and urges continued excellence in research and publication

On December 11th 2024, DUCE community celebrated its 17th graduation ceremony, officiated by UDSM Chancellor and former President, Dr. Jakaya Kikwete. The event took place at the College grounds involving graduands, parents, academicians and invited guests.

Dr. Kikwete conferred degrees to graduates and applauded their resilience and hard work. He also encouraged graduates to continue striving for excellence. “Your degrees symbolize not only your academic achievement but also your potential to contribute meaningfully to the nation”. He said.
